The New Breed

Just as true warriors run to the sound of battle, not away from it, there are Kingdom messengers who will not run from disaster and problems, but to them. They will not shrink back from any level of chaos, but rather bring order and peace to it. As the world continues to fall apart, they will stand on solid ground, and in due time begin to draw the attention of the world because of it. These will not lose their peace in the midst of any threat or problem because they will have built their lives on the Kingdom that cannot be shaken by anything happening on the earth. Their peace will calm many storms.

We are in the time when those who have built their lives on the Kingdom of God, and those who have not, will become increasingly clear.

One of the basic characteristics of those whose lives have been established on the Kingdom of God, is that they will have peace and come alive, even thriving during times of trouble. This is because they have been prepared to live in the greatest time of trouble the world has ever known. They prepared by building their lives on the Kingdom, not on the things of this world that are so easily shaken.

This new breed are the friends of the Holy Spirit, who saw the world and moved upon it in its original state of chaos, and will do so again upon the chaos mankind has created by trying to live without God. Just as the Holy Spirit brought forth a beautiful creation before, He will bring forth a new creation after this chaos, that even eclipses the first in its beauty and harmony.

It is simply impossible for mankind to mess up things so badly, that the Holy Spirit cannot fix them, quickly and easily. All we have to do is turn to Him and ask. In preparation for the restoration of mankind and the earth that is coming, He will begin to move upon the problems and chaos in the lives of all who call upon the name of the Lord. We are going to know the Holy Spirit as the One who can fix anything, easily and quickly. As we are charged in Philippians 4:6-7:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The New Breed (excerpt from Prophetic Bulletin, Feb 29, 2004)

One of the most tragic statements in the Bible is Philippians 2:19-21:

“But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged when I learn of your condition.

For I have no one else of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare. For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.”

Paul spent his life sacrificing his own interests, and even risking his life repeatedly for the sake of the gospel. After all those years, he only had one associate, Timothy, who was not in ministry for his own interests, but was sincerely seeking the interests of the Lord. How would the ministry of today measure up to this?

I have become convinced that, overall, the leadership of the church in our times is probably the greatest since the first century. We do have many failures, which receive most of the publicity. However, there are many today that have likewise sacrificed their own, selfish interests their entire lives to serve the interests of Christ and His people. For those we should be very thankful. Even so, the basic fabric and nature of modern ministry has more in common with a profession or a business, than a calling. That is about to change.

As the church has grown further from the cross over time, the more selfish and deceived it has become. We can find great souls in each generation who did behold the cross, and took up their crosses daily, doing all things for the sake of the gospel. These are the great and continuing voices from history which still speak. These are the ones who heeded the Lord’s exhortation in Matthew 16:24-25:

“If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.”

The Lord began speaking to some of us twenty years ago, saying, “the cross will be popular again.” He also said that when this happens, a new breed of leadership, a new breed of Christians, and a radically new church would arise. We have now come to that time. There is going to arise within the church a renewal movement which truly deserves the name. It is going to be so radical and so powerful, that it is going to make all things new. The present emerging generation has been called the most selfish yet. Selfishness and arrogance have become increasingly powerful strongholds within it. Even so, where sin increases, grace will increase even more (see Romans 5:20). The emerging generation will produce the most selfless and self-sacrificing Christians seen since the first century. This is going to result in a release of spiritual power and authority such as has not been seen since the first century. True apostles are going to walk the earth again, and where they walk, true apostolic churches will arise.

This new breed of Christians will be the most fearless people on earth because they will have already died to this world, and it is impossible for the dead to fear. They will walk in unprecedented faith because they will have learned the secret of not looking at themselves and who they are, but at the Lord and who He is. They will not live by faith in their own abilities, but by faith in His strength. They will walk in unprecedented power because they will have learned the secret: the cross “is the power of God” (I Corinthians 1:18)

David Green shares his life story and founding Hobby Lobby, a Christian arts and crafts chain that truly embodies business and ministry together. He shares insights from the journey and Godly wisdom worth noting.

Growing Up

David was one of six children. He learned these simple yet profound principals from his parents, who were pastors and farmers:

Provider. God always provided for our family’s needs.

Tithing. My parents loved to tithe – they would record each vegetable harvested so that they could tithe (first fruits) on everything

Wife of Character. David met his wife Barbara at the local five and dime. He grew up Pentecostal tradition and Barbara Baptist.

Beginnings

Work. Before starting Hobby Lobby, David worked at TG&Y, a five and dime variety store chain started during the great depression. Their motto was “[We] have what people want at a price they can afford to pay”, and they sold: “Turtles, Girdles and Yoyos”

Ministry. As a “merchant”, David’s mom would periodically ask him: “but what are you doing for the Lord?” David figured out that he could be just as called, just as anointed to minister as a merchant as his 5 brothers and sisters who were pastors.

Creativity. The arts and craft business started with a fad of people decorating their walls with little canvas and frames of painted barns, windmills and such.

Start-up Loan. Went to the bank to borrow $600. $450 of which was for a miter to make frames. Salesman went out with samples and sold $4000 worth of product, but they had no money to build inventory. Went to bank again and said, if you can extend credit 60 days we can pay you back with the payables on these sales, assuming it would take 30 days. “I didn’t know that people wouldn’t pay in 30 days when you gave them 30 days”

Family Labor. Started in the garage. Boys were 7 and 9 years old and David payed them 7 cents an hour. Barbara worked for the first 5 labors free.

1st Hobby Lobby 300 sq ft storefront, 300 manufacturing space. Oklahoma.

2nd store opened 1975 and David left his “job” at TG&Y where he was earning $26,000 per year. Somehow, they were able to get by with David taking a reduced $13,000 salary out of the young company.

Administrative Gift. David considers his wife a “Proverbs 31” woman. Barbara never would spend more money than they had as a family, yet always provided for the kids, including making their clothes, with whatever they had. She trusted in the Lord in this special way.

Nearly Went Bust

Foreclosure. In the mid-1980s, there was an oil bust. The bank was threatening to foreclose. Couldn’t order new merchandise because they hadn’t yet paid for the other merchandise.

Repentance from Self-Reliance. God taught David how to trust and rely on God instead of himself. Even as he “always said the right things” giving God the credit through his lips, but he doubts it was in his heart. In fact he recalls God saying: “OK, your so smart you can have [the company] by yourself”. And I did have it myself. Yes, he gave me life, breath, etc. but as far as Him blessing our company, that wasn’t me. Thankful for this time.

Humility. David would crawl under his desk and cry out to God for help. “Where are we going to go from here?”

Family Decision. Significant family meeting at that time, letting everyone know we might lose everything. My oldest son said, “Dad, we’re not relying on you, we’re relying on God” My son taught me something that day.

Giving

Gleaning. In the beginning they sold beads to make necklaces. Thank God for the hippies! They would line up their beads on the floor to make necklaces and we knew they were stealing some of them. But we did the math and figured it would still work even if they stole 30% of the beads!

Faith. Attended a conference with missionaries going all over the world handing out Christian literature. Gave a small amount. But on the flight home God said: “I want you to give $30,000”. David didn’t have $30,000, so he consulted with Barbara and said “how can we do this?”. So they came up with an idea. They had $7500 at the time, and wrote out 3 additional post-dated checks – one for each month, trusting God that they would have $7500 each month somehow.

Giving 50%. David started by paying the tithe. Then more than tithes. God caught him one day and said “You can’t out give God”. Discussed with the family how can we outgive God? Son gave a plan. Give the largest amount they had ever given. Then they added that amount same to itself and continued. Every 6 months they increased their giving in that way. Not doubled, added the same amount. They looked at those numbers out in time and said, no way is this possible. But then they did it for over 20 years! They were even ahead of that eventually, and decided well the government allows up to 50% to be deducted for tax purposes, let’s aim for that. So that’s where God has us today. (I believe the Green’s has given away $500m plus)

Contentment. How do you give away 50%? We have some cars and a house and we’re good. We give to give.

Give to Get is all about greed. We aren’t about that. We do give based on a need. We do respond to God’s calling in obedience.

Meet monthly to give. They have 300 requests each month. Don’t want to give shallow across the board. But want only to go deep with a few.

Wealth. Bill struggled and couldn’t sleep. 2nd hardest time in his life. Would wealth, even billions cause trouble to his children, others? Advisors were saying break it up into twigs, branches, leafs, but didn’t make sense to David. So, they have given 100% of the stock in the company away to a “stewardship trust”. Can’t be touched. The wealth is protected. We/kids are stewards. They legally are only stewards. “God owns everything” scripture (Psalm 24:1). Family gets what they earn, but that’s it. Keep the tree and reap the fruit. Also use a donor advised fund.

Two Ground Rules for giving. God’s word and man’s soul. The only things that are eternal.

Growth

Now have 50+ stores and 36,000 employees. 10 million square foot distribution facility in Oklahoma City. One brick at a time.

No long-term debt.

$15 minimum wage policy instituted few years ago. Now $15.70 per hour. That’s good, but if they get saved, that’s great.

God

HL employs 6 chaplins to serve leadership and the people. Pray at meetings.

Witness. Meeting of new employees – 50 managers accept Jesus who were training to be VPs. We preach the gospel at work.

Lawsuits. At any given time fighting 70 lawsuits. David figures he can take one more lawsuit to risk preaching the gospel at work.

Not just money. Blessings from God for his parents were children and health. Not just money for money.

Family harder than Business. Doing things better for God. God first, family next, the business being successful third. Strong marriage as platform for God to raise up the kids and family.

Two life goals. One: Raise up and sustain family. Not just the kids, but the grand-kids and the great-grand kids to serve the Lord. Two: Share the good news of Jesus.

7-22-19 Faneuil Hall

On July 22, a remnant from across New England and America gathered to worship the Lord and hear God’s statesmen Dutch Sheets and Chuck Pierce speak at Faneuil Hall (“the womb of the Revolution”) in a type of “sons of liberty” revival presenting the state of the Church in America, America’s prophetic destiny, and America’s present peril. Key directives were given.

Chuck Pierce

  • Pilgrims covenanted with God 400 years ago
  • Recognize the oppression we are under in America as Covenant people
  • 400 years biblical parallel to time Israel enslaved in Egypt
  • The Church needs to understand its oppression and cry out to God
  • So that God will respond: “Let My People Go!”

Word for America

1. Recognize the oppression you are under

  • 400 years since Mayflower Compact liken to 400 years Israel enslaved in Egypt
  • Not sure Church recognizes its oppression
  • God’s people need to cry out like Exodus 2, so that God can confirm Covenant and deliver His people
  • 400 years ago slavery entered the land
  • 350 years First nations people mistreatment
  • misuse of liberty for sin, self, etc.

2. Need to Cry out to God – Need to get louder

HortonHearsAWhoBookCover
  • God has been preparing deliverers
  • Moses in preparation 40 years
  • Moses first tried to deliver his people in his own strength
  • 40 years later became God’s supernatural instrument of deliverance
  • But he wasn’t brought forth until the people’s cries were heard
  • Then God acknowledged His Covenant with them
  • Need to sound the trumpet like “Horton Hears a Who!”
  • Need to rally more people and make some noise

3. Deliverance – spiritual warfare required

  • “I’ve been working on [deliverers] preparing them to enter into this new move of God”
  • “I am going to call them afresh. Moses had to turn aside to the burning bush so God could move him in the next dimension”
  • “For 40 years I have have been putting deep down within them the cry for freedom”
  • God’s going to start rallying or He’s going to start separating
  • “Need to recognize that [the evil] in the heavens invaded earth and now carries the voice that controls this nation”
  • God is raising up 12 region mobilization like Moses had Israel go out of Egypt in 12 armies
  • “You must be willing to gather together”
  • America needs to rally with a different spirit
  • “Let My People Go!”
  • Like here in Faneuil Hall 240 years ago
  • God will start remolding his covenant with this nation

We are in a battle over liberty

  • 1 Corinthians 8 – Where Paul is dealing with liberty
  • Last 150 years that voice of liberty has gotten twisted
  • Women’s rights and abortion; liberty of a doctor to abort a child
  • We are in a crisis to restore the true voice of liberty
  • If we don’t have a realignment of the true voice of liberty in this nation, it will be disastrous to generations to come
Liberty and Union Now and Forever

USA government like China’s by 2026?

  • God showed Chuck in 1986 that in 2020 America’s freedom is threatened
  • This is in his books: Future War of the Church; Time to Triumph
  • If American cannot keep shifting, America’s government will end up looking like China’s
  • Don’t be under delusion – this will happen if we don’t awaken
  • There has been a recovery of some semblance of a voice of freedom over these past few years
  • That came not because it was political, but because it was Covenant
  • Because God realigned us with Israel
  • Now, get past the political dynamic
  • We are on the right path of Covenant and the Word of God
  • This will keep us on course with Covenant over the next year

Word for New England

God is looking at New England.

This gathering initiates something toward new England. We have to stay very focused here through September 2020. We have to strain every nerve to press through. That’s what unity looks like, you have to strain every nerve to tolerate some people.

I am here to announce, through September 2020, the eye of God will not be taken off of New England…

[29:35] And finally, I believe this is very specific for New England. Very specific. And its the parable of the 10 virgins.

And the Lord says to New England, I am going to redistribute oil back to you. State by state by state by state by state. I’m going to redistribute all back to you. And I’m going to see – in a matter of fact, I’m saying this to the whole 13 colonies. I’m going to redistribute oil back to. And I’m going to see which states awaken through September.

So, that awakening sound. The movement from state to state. Who will stay awake?

Word for Massachusetts

[25:10]

Massachusetts of course is … some way the cradle of liberty has become one of the most twisted voices of truth. And we are here to decree – not to brow beat Massachusetts; not to speak against the people from Massachusetts. But to say somewhere – you have got to be set free! To come into a reality of what God is calling.

I want to leave you with three scriptures … passages that God brought me to. To bring to you up here [in Massachusetts].

Number one is in 2 Kings where they set up three watches – chapter 11. Where they set up 3 watches, because they realized, that which could restore covenant was not in authority to restore it. That it had been removed. see, one of the promises of God was that someone from David’s throne would … some one from David’s branch would always be on the throne. First time [in Israel] that had been removed. Therefor they had to get a strategy to get that back in place. So someway or another, we have to continue to get strategies to get the voice of covenant. And the representative of covenant back in place.

And remember what they did? They went and found Joash. Who was the same thing, who had been hid out for 7 years, who hid out as she killed in every city. Athaliah was so evil she killed her own kids.

And they found him and they set up three watches till they could get him seated. Now, hear what I’m saying. There’s something strategic God is calling us to, to restore the throne of covenant in this land. That’s the first thing. And I know He can do it. I know the Lord has godly enough priests that we can hear what to do in this land, to keep getting this back in place. That the first one.

The second this is Josiah. And now with him, even though he was young. When he came out, he did something differently. He said, let’s pull out what established the covenant. And so, remember, the priest read the book of the law out loud. Well when Josiah hear it he said: you know, we are going back to that. And you know what? The women… this year women make their shift in the movement. The woman the prophetess led during the whole movement to bring this thing back into place. And before long Josiah had reestablished a covenant moment, back in America [Israel]. He just made a mistake by aligning wrong in war. And so it tells us we have lots of things to keep focused in, in our prayer life…

[31:18] And Massachusetts, you are going to have determine to wake up. Because you are really in some dangerous sleep. And shutting your eyes to some things. That could cause you to be like Lazarus but, I’m not sure you can be resurrected. Massachusetts is at a very very critical place.

Word for Connecticut

“Connecticut has the strongest root [God] is trying to recover in New England.

Even though Connecticut probably doesn’t yet realize that their root is so strong, if they would come alive and stay together in that state and worship for the year ahead, the root would come alive and produce in a whole new way.”

You have Thomas Hooker and all those things in the history of our land.

Dutch Sheets

  • Faneuil is a derivative of the Hebrew word Penuel
  • That is where God wrestled the fallen nature out of Jacob and he became Israel
  • God can use any flawed person and shape them into his instrument
  • Like Abraham, Issac and Jacob – deceivers, liars, adulterers
  • God tucked his dream inside Jacob’s dream
  • Jacob at Bethel said “I’ll serve you God if you make me wealthy”
  • 20 years later at Penuel he was transformed into Israel so God could get his dream back
  • God tucked his covenant dream inside the founding fathers’ dream for America that met right here in Faneuil Hall
  • But the American dream became distorted, twisted
  • We took our liberty and added licence to do whatever we wanted that would benefit ourselves
  • Yes, God has blessed America; Yes, God has strengthened America – but if that’s all we want, we have missed God’s dream
  • But God has not given up on His dream
  • God has not given up on America
  • He is going to get His dream back because of Covenant

A New England Convocation at the Moody Center, Sept 20-23 2018

Last year’s Restore and Revive gathering surprised and delighted all those who attended, exceeding our wildest dreams. Seeing the Moody Auditorium filled nearly to capacity with passionate worshippers was absolutely incredible, and that wasn’t even the best part. There was such a sweet spirit of unity and freedom. Many professed faith in Christ for the first time, and there was a major focus on evangelism in the main sessions. On the drive home, people began sharing their faith and people made professions of faith in Jesus Christ in restaurants and even outside of Jonathan Edward’s church in Northampton.

Restore&ReviveConferenceFlyer4_SIDEA-RevisedAs many described it, Restore and Revive was a taste of Heaven on earth. In the 1880’s and 90’s, Moody’s contemporaries described Northfield as “Heaven on Earth”. The fact that that is once again being said again after all these years is nothing short of a miracle and is a sign of what God is doing in New England. We are beginning to see a significant move of God to both Restore and Revive the church of New England before our eyes!

THEMES FOR 2018

This year, 10 Days and Restore and Revive will serve as the kick-off for a regional, 2 year focus on evangelism. We believe that God is inviting us, as His people in New England, to enter into a time of His favor and a season of harvest leading up to 2020 and the 400th anniversary celebration of the Pilgrim’s landing. Themes for this year include:

  • N.E. Evangelism Strategy launch and 40 Days of Love (Sep9-Oct18)
  • Reconciliation of races, nations, ethnicities and recapturing the church’s inheritance from the 2nd great awakening and the abolitionist movement
  • Student Missions and the legacy of the Student Volunteer Movement

The New England Alliance, conveners of Restore and Revive together with our many partners, believe that God’s Holy Spirit is bringing together a set of meetings which will not only honor what God has done in New England and Northfield in the past, but also will help open the way for a new work.

Restore and Revive is set amongst the fall feast days each year. It is the culmination of the 10 Days of Prayer being held from September 9-19 in venues across New England and around the world, including the Northfield Campus. The 10 Days of Prayer (from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur) are a yearly cycle of God calling his Church to repentance, fasting and mourning. Restore and Revive is also purposefully and prophetically connected to the Feast of Tabernacles (feast of the ingathering) as it relates to the great end-time harvest and the Lord’s return. We expect that many will participate in 10 Days in their own city before joining us in Northfield for Restore and Revive. Many also will continue on with Awaken The Dawn (September 27-29).

Guest speakers currently include Randy Clark, Chuck Pierce, Paul Jehle, Clive Calver, Jonathan Thomas, and Grant Berry with many others to be announced in the upcoming weeks.

In addition to the personal inspiration and anointing we expect participants to receive, we look forward to working with the Moody Center to see how God will use our special time apart at Northfield to bring forth life and abundance to the church-at-large, and to a waiting world.

There is a strategic prayer movement catching fire across the USA called America Prays. As part, New England Prays and Connecticut Prays are all implementing a 24/7 canopy of prayer over cities and regions across the country. This is the same strategy pioneered in Whatcom County, Washington called “1 Church 1 Day” coordinated by Jason Hubbard, originating with founder Tim Taylor (Operation Rolling Thunder).

The vision is to see all across New England, the 1 Church 1 Day model (24/7 virtual house of prayer). Each church takes one day (or half day) a month. We call this New England prays, and you can sign up as a church here.

A part of New England Prays is Connecticut Prays. If you are in CT, you can also see the CT calendar and sign up there as well.

Brian Alarid, the founder of America Prays and is coming to Bridgeport Connecticut August 28 and 29th to speak about the strategy and how to use the 1 Church 1 Day model to help bring a culture of prayer to your church. You can register for this event (either session or both) below (no cost):

We want to see ceaseless prayer come over the whole earth until Jesus returns!

July 23-28, 2018

BEFORE WE CAN GO, WE MUST BE SENT

John 15:5 says “He who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit, for without me, you can do nothing.” God has great plans for this generation, there are great exploits to perform, injustices to be righted, but this adventure has to begin in the secret place with God, in the place of communion with Him. Before we go on mission with Him, we must first learn to abide in Christ, to hear His voice. We need the Holy Spirit to teach us and remove entangling sin from our lives. We need Him to tell us who we are, and to send us out on mission.

The Northfield Student Conference is an opportunity for students to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and to discover and grow in their callings.

We want to get away for five days with like-minded believers to be with Jesus together, as His family, in a beautiful place where we can commune with God and with one another. This gathering is sponsored by many different ministries in New England who are working in unity. There will be amazing men and women of God there from the New England region, fathers and mothers who want to come along side you in your journey with the Lord.

DL Moody and the Student Volunteer Movement

In 1886, 251 young men gathered for the first Northfield Student Conference. At the end of the conference, God had supernaturally broken in. 100 of the students committed themselves to world missions and what became known as the Student Volunteer Missions Movement was born. In a generation, this movement sent 20,000 missionaries overseas. Their watchword, “the evangelization of the world in this generation”, was a cry to fulfill the Great Commission in their lifetimes.

In 1886, a movement was born with a dream that every person on earth would hear the gospel. They died without seeing the promise—this is an invitation to join in and, Lord wiling, be part of completing their story. It’s simple: We need to know Him, sit with Him, learn His ways and His heart. Everything else will flow out of that. Join us this July 23-28 for the Northfield Student Conference.

Make Disciples

Before He ascended, Jesus left His disciples with this mandate: “Go into all the world and make disciples of all peoples…” Nearly 2,000 years later, that mandate remains unfulfilled, with an estimated 3.1 billion people in 4,500 people groups on earth who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. As followers of Jesus Christ, we all have a role to play in seeing Jesus’ Commission fulfilled.

We believe it is time to finish what the Volunteers began, to raise up a new movement of college-students who will give up their lives to see the Lamb of God receive the reward of His suffering. Building on the legacy of the past, we see on the horizon a new Student Mission Movement to bring to completion what our forebearers began.
